Summary:
A Research Associate III position is immediately available in the Discovery Chemistry department. We are seeking a motivated and creative synthetic chemist to develop small molecule therapeutic agents and antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs). Key responsibilities include the design and synthesis of medicinal chemistry analogs, elaboration of natural products, and elucidation of structure-activity relationships. Additionally, the individual may have opportunities to work on other aspects of ADC platforms such as linker technology and drug carriers. The successful candidate will work collaboratively within the chemistry department and be on a team that advances oncology therapeutics from concept to clinic.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Design and safely perform experiments utilizing modern organic synthetic and analytical techniques
- Propose synthetic routes for new analogs, identify and solve synthetic challenges independently
- Purification and analytical characterization of organic compounds using chromatography, HPLC, NMR and MS
- Maintain clear and accurate records of experimental work in lab notebooks
- Stewardship and maintenance of personal and shared laboratory equipment
- summaries of work for presentations, reports, and patent applications
- Provide scientific insight and effectively communicate and collaborate cross-functionally
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with 4+ years' relevant experience or M.S. degree with 2+ years' relevant experience in synthetic organic chemistry
- Ability to independently conduct experiments including reaction planning, optimization, synthesis, isolation, purification, and characterization
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Strong willingness to learn and grow laboratory skillset
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with contemporary laboratory equipment (e.g., prep-HPLCs, automated flash chromatography) and software (e.g., SciFinder, Chemdraw, ELNs)
- Experience with handling moisture- and air-sensitive reagents

The hiring pay range for this position is $83,000 - $108,000 per year based on skills, education and experience relevant to the role. Other components of total compensation include a competitive equity grant at the time of hire (with additional annual grants, and grants upon promotion when applicable), and an annual bonus.
