Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Scientist to join the Bioinformatics team in the Clinical Biomarkers and Diagnostics group within Translational Sciences at Seagen. Our group seeks to understand the mechanism of novel therapeutics and identify patient selection strategies using diverse patient data from human clinical trials. A successful candidate should have demonstrated technical proficiency in data science and visualization and possess scientific acumen and curiosity to engage with the biology underlying our drug development efforts. This role requires independent thought and benefits from collaboration across multiple functional areas spanning from clinical development to early research.
This position will enable analysis of biomarker and other clinical data from ongoing clinical trials as well as explore our historical trial data and public datasets to accelerate future drug development at Seagen.
This is a hybrid position based in our offices in the Seattle area or South San Francisco
Principal Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with bioinformaticians, biomarker scientists and clinical research teams to analyze clinical and biomarker data to support clinical development decision making
- Create data visualization methods and analysis standards to facilitate internal communication and regulatory interactions
- Streamline and automate data processing for biomarker analyses where appropriate
- Utilize classical statistical approaches and data science methods to better predict patient populations most likely to benefit from novel drug therapies
- Participate in the development of machine learning models to predict drug sensitivity and resistance from NGS and other data types
Required Qualifications:
- PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related discipline, and 2+ years of post-graduate experience
- Solid knowledge of relevant mathematics and statistics used in the analysis of biomarker data, such as tissue images, blood analytes and NGS
- Demonstrated expertise in common scripting languages, including R, and associated data science and bioinformatic libraries
- Expert proficiency in data visualization
- Familiarity with basic machine learning and feature exploration methods
- Dedication to good documentation, coding best practices and source control
- Strong problem-solving and time-management skills
- Commitment to effective communication and interpersonal skills required for working in a cross-disciplinary team environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- PhD in Bioinformatics or Computational Biology and 5+ years of post-graduate experience
- Experience in Python and cloud computing environments
- Experience with dependency management, environment control and containerization
- Knowledge of library/package development
- Familiarity with creation of interactive graphics and dashboards
- Familiarity with modern data storage paradigms, APIs and ETLs
- Experience in oncology and/or drug development preferably in industry
- Prior experience with clinical trial data and design principles

The hiring pay range for this position is $137,000 – $177,000 per year based on skills, education and experience relevant to the role. Other components of total compensation include a competitive equity grant at the time of hire (with additional annual grants, and grants upon promotion when applicable), and an annual bonus.
