Summary:

Seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Senior Research Associate who will be part of the Material Generation Team (MGT). Within the MGT, this role will be primarily responsible for supporting and leading the downstream purification operations in our pilot-scale lab (up to 250L bioreactors) to generate materials needed for cross-functional developments as well as GLP toxicology studies (primarily, monoclonal antibodies (mAbs)). This role will be expected to independently execute purification processes from harvest to mAb formulation and to be cross-trained in upstream cell culture processes. This is an exciting opportunity to learn the entire mAb production process, to join a growing & dynamic team, and to significantly contribute to Seagen’s mission to develop transformative therapies targeting cancer to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Provide expertise in pilot scale purification of mAbs and apply that expertise to in-lab operations
  • Be an on-the-floor resource for troubleshooting and purification theory
  • Assist in planning and strategy for run processes
  • Support material generation activities, including both cell culture and purification operations, from cell thaw to final formulated mAb
  • Escalate equipment or process issues as necessary. Help in troubleshooting and derivation of appropriate corrective action and resolution
  • Prepare buffer and media solutions to support material generation runs
  • Perform equipment (e.g., bioreactor, purification skid, and chromatography column, etc.) maintenance
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all lab activities and work routinely with electronic data records and applications
  • Generate technical reports, and present in internal meetings

Required Qualifications:

  • Sr. RA - Bachelors in Biology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering or related majors with >8 years of relevant experience or Masters
  • Extensive hands-on purification experience including Pilot scale chromatography systems (AKTA Pilot/Ready) and TFF systems
  • Able to follow lab[AC1] operating procedures and safety guidelines
  • Detail oriented, strong organization and time management skills
  • Team player, motivated and willing to learn and grow
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience using lab software and/or electronic lab notebooks (ELN)
  • Be able to lift, move, and transfer 50 lbs
  • Must be able to complete the physical portion of pilot scale operations (rolling 200kg barrels on wheels, moving buffer bags, installing harvest filters, etc.)
  • Weekend and holiday work is required when needed

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with scaling up processes from lab to pilot scale
  • Experience leading lab operations
  • Manufacturing or pilot scale purification
  • Familiar with cell culture processes and operations
  • Proficient in lab automation
  • Prior experience in using ELN and data management

The hiring pay range for this position is $94,000 - $122,000 per year based on skills, education and experience relevant to the role. Other components of total compensation include a competitive equity grant at the time of hire (with additional annual grants, and grants upon promotion when applicable), and an annual bonus.
