Summary:
We are seeking a highly capable, enthusiastic, and motivated Research Associate II to assist in the purification and characterization of recombinant proteins as part of the core protein expression and purification group. This person will play a critical role in supporting preclinical efforts to develop novel antibody-based therapeutics.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Recombinant protein purification, including antigens and antibodies, by affinity and size exclusion chromatography
- Analytical characterization of purified products using UPLC and mass spectrometry techniques
- Testing and employment of small-scale, automated purification processes using liquid handling robots
- Collaboration with purification peers to fulfill protein reagent requests
- Documentation and tracking of protein reagent requests via ELN and LIMS
- Data analysis, report generation, and presentation of results
- Optimization of processes and evaluation of new analytic techniques
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with 2+ years relevant experience or M.S. degree with 0-2 years relevant experience; or equivalent. Degree in relevant scientific discipline. 2+ years of post-baccalaureate lab experience in an academic and/or industry environment
- Demonstrated experience in recombinant protein purification and liquid chromatography techniques
- Experience using Hamilton or Tecan robotics platforms and troubleshooting automated purification processes
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical, organizational, and written/oral communication skills
- Ability to perform routine tasks independently, more advanced tasks under direction, and to complete work as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2+ years of protein purification experience
- Design and implementation of new assays and technologies
- Familiarity with analytical chromatography, mass spectrometry and/or glycosylation evaluation
- Experience with AKTA FPLCs and Unicorn software
- Mammalian transfection and protein expression
- Tracking inventory and/or requests through computer systems or Excel sheets
- Basic knowledge of antibody biochemistry, understanding of immunological functions and systems

The hiring pay range for this position is $72,000 - $94,000 per year based on skills, education and experience relevant to the role. Other components of total compensation include a competitive equity grant at the time of hire (with additional annual grants, and grants upon promotion when applicable), and an annual bonus.
